10 November, 2008sevfive : the backI'm spending a lot of time just standing in my backyard as it's the first one I've owned & it's nice to just wander around in circles knowing it's mine. Yeah, that sounds pretty naff, but it's also one of the many hinderences to blogging in recent times. To compensate, I thought I'd combine the garden & blogging & give a little guided tour via a few random photos.
![]() Everything grows exceptionally well due to the soil which spent many decades being part of a nearby winery, hence, covered in vines. As such, the lawns requiring cutting nearly every weekend, but nothing really needs watering other than some palms in half barrells. ![]() The main feature by far is the pond, of which there is actually two, the main one above & a second fibreglass one which.... well, I'm not sure why it exists. My sister has given some interest in it, so it may well be moved to new lodgings & I'll reclaim the area for an extra few feet of lawn. The previous owner had a couple of tiny fish, but I could never find them after I moved in, so I put in five comet goldfish which are thriving & having a swimming good time! One creature still remains unidentified in the pond at this point. It's roughly three inches long with a fat head & long tail & from all indications it's a tadpole which is developing, but it hasn't really changed dimensions over the last month or so. We'll wait & see... I'd have taken some shots of the various aquaria pets, but they're either too shy or too quick, so you're just going to have to settle for some macro plant life! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ah, it's a clothespeg! I liked the photo, so it made the cut, as did the pergola below. I'm trying to find an outdoor table with bench seats rather than a setting with individual seats. So far, they're not easy to come by & the few I have found aren't too sturdy. All I'll need then is the barbeque & a few friends for the odd lazy Summer Sunday afternoon.

07 November, 2008sevfive : tickFrom the rest of the World, I'd like to pass on my congratulations to the American populous for voting in Obama as your new President. We've been waiting for such a long time & now the planet can start to get back into some sort of normality.
Of course, there's still 48% of those who voted who still haven't worked out that the current guy got America into a complete pickle & dragged many countries into situations which will be plaguing them until well after the next few American Presidents have come & gone. 0 Comments:
04 November, 2008sevfive : #44Okay America, in a few hours you get to stand in a queue & then decide who you want to take over as your representative to the world.
It's not that hard. One is very old & will be lucky to last the three year term, therefore, you want to pick the other one. Please don't fuck it up like last time!! 0 Comments:
