28 December, 2009sevfive : caught upSo.... What the hell happened to 2009?! I know time tends to go a bit quicker as you get older, but it's getting a bit crazy when it feels like the year never really started!
With the speed at which the time has flown, sevfive : the blog, has taken a hammering. I've written a stack of posts in the background, but not too many have been finished & posted. I'll keep working on them, but they'll just be a bit out of date! Twitter hasn't helped the cause either & I suspect it could have well ended many blogs. I must admit, I don't read as many as I used to either because of it! Anyway, this is the second year end in my new house & I've finally managed to spend heaps of cash buying stuff which I want, rather than essentially need. It sounds a bit pretentious now, but for the first few months, I was just spending on living expenses & surviving on the bare necessities. I was thinking the world was going to end if I wasn't putting as much money in the bank as possible. Eventually, I looked around & realised I was comfortably paying off my mortgage & still looking at a big crusty old television which was sitting on the floor! I've purchased a full bedroom suite, outdoor setting, barbeque, lcd television & lots of other little things along the way. Now my house actually looks a whole lot more livable. I'll start another list soon of all the things I'll try to get done in 2010. Most of it will be work on the property itself. Lighting for the backyard, rainwater tank, replacement of the old watering system, adding a floor to the garden shed, & the list goes on. It may also be endless & very expensive!! Singledom still remains, but I've had some interesting encounters with a couple of ladies this year. One was a girl I worked with who came on strong, then backed right off & headed to London. I still have no idea what happened! The other was an old school friend of nearly 30 years. I went to her birthday bash & she made a move which was completely unexpected. When someone says they've always been keen, whilst they're also going through a nasty divorce, it just seems a bit wrong & way too hard! Working in the Hotel game has passed the seven year mark, which means I'm eligible for pro-rata Long Service Leave! I remember wanting to get out after the first three months & somehow, I'm still working for the same employer. The job itself isn't anything exciting, but the stories you get from what goes on in Hotel rooms keeps me eternally entertained. If you've seen the series Hotel Babylon & thought it was crap, trust me when I say most of it is true! From police storming rooms, to fights at wedding receptions, to the massive glass dildos which were found in a minibar freezer & forgotten by the guest on checkout, it's all beyond what you'd expect of, who appear to be, normal looking guests. (In case you're wondering, no one has ever called up to claim them... yet!) So what's in store for 2010? January has a few things locked in already. The big one being that I'm a groomsman for a good mate of mine & his beautiful bride. The rest of the year however, is yet to be planned out & written. Roll on 2010 & Happy New Year! 0 Comments:
