31 March, 2011sevfive : casinolabraIt's odd what you discover when you occasionly look up. Heck, I don't know if these are light fittings or just random decoration, but they exist outside the entrance of the Adelaide Casino. They've probably been there for decades & I've walked underneath them hundreds of times!

25 March, 2011sevfive : froggy foamI have a frog in my pond who is extremely proud today. That white patch in the photo is foam which contain dozens of tadpole embryos & their father is making a whole lot of noise celebrating. Based on my observations over the last couple of years, the foam soon dissipates as the tadpoles hatch, and the ants tend to attack the foam as well. Since there are no fish in this pond, there are no other predators, so a good quantity should survive. I scooped some eggs out a few weeks ago & there was nothing in the foam, but there were a couple of tadpoles in the water. I kept them in a jar inside & over a week they changed considerably in size. My folks now have them sitting on their kitchen window sill so they can watch them develop & once they get too big, I'll just add them back to the pond!

23 March, 2011sevfive : harbore townAnother packed day at Harbour Town. It was a damp day, but the car park was mostly filled. I'm assuming they was mostly staff. Any store I wandered into had me swamped by multiple store people wanting to help me! Very frustrating & hence I didn't buy a thing. I also tackled Ikea & because it wasn't too busy, they only had a couple of checkouts operating. As it came to my turn to be served, I had my items in hand but the guy behind me had put his items on the conveyor belt, so his stuff arrived at the same time. When the cashier asked me if they were my items as well, the guy pounced to say they were his & handed his credit card over my shoulder, trying to jump the queue!! The cashier figured this guy was a dickhead, so ignored him & continued to serve me. The irate guy behind me then stood so close I could actually feel his breath on my neck! I changed from paying cash, to paying by credit card & then electing to sign..... just to extend the transaction as long as possible. I'm pretty sure he wasn't too happy about it!

21 March, 2011sevfive : obeliscuredI knew from a distance that Mt Lofty would have a bit of fog at the summit, but it sort of spoiled the view... My plan was to consolidate the running I've done during my holidays & set a new personal best traversing the 3.5km from Waterfall Gully to the summit. That plan changed as they're currently upgrading the trail, so a detour is in place which should make it longer, but it seemed to be a fair bit easier on the legs. The work done so far makes the trail a lot safer with fewer washed out surfaces. It'll be brilliant once it's done.

sevfive : semistumpedYou can get a big rig into Waterfall Gully but there's no way to turn it around! I suspect the driver missed the turn to a new housing estate, but didn't expect a massive dead end. When I left to start my walk up to My Lofty, he was being guided by a couple of bush walkers into what was going to be a 90+ point turn. I'm sure his boss would have been thrilled! 0 Comments:
